Will people be able to find my website on Google? What search engine optimization techniques are included?
If I build your website, I guarantee that your site will be able to be indexed by search engines like Google and others at the time of launch. I will build your site with SEO best practices, but advanced SEO services are not included in your project unless specifically itemized in the Proposal of Services. Your ranking and placement search engines depend on a myriad of factors, so I cannot guarantee ranking or placement on any search engine.
Will my website be ADA compliant/accessible?
If laws require that your website is accessible to users with disabilities, or if you desire it to be, it is your responsibility to inform me of this requirement.
If your website or any associated data must meet compliance requirements of any kind for any entity, organization, or regulatory body (such as but not limited to HIPAA, FERPA, etc.), it is your responsibility to inform me of the specific compliance requirements involved.
I do not guarantee to meet any compliance for accessibility or other requirements unless I have explicitly agreed in writing to do so.
That being said, I am well-experienced with building websites to be accessible and am happy to accommodate your requirements. I always build websites with basic accessibility practices, but website accessibility is an ongoing practice and is something that should be continuously assessed.
Website editors must also create content to be accessible, which I am able to provide basic training for upon request.
Will I be able to update my website after it’s delivered?
You will be able to make changes to your website through the CMS (content management system). I create well-crafted editing experiences to empower editors and streamline their workflows. CMS tutorials are included with the project so that your editors feel confident when making changes to the website.
Where will my website be hosted?
My Website Care Plan includes hosting on fully managed, optimized servers. Subscribing to my care plan is not a requirement.
Whether or not you choose to subscribe to my Website Care Plan, you are welcome to acquire and pay for your own hosting account. You will need to share hosting access with me in order to launch your website. If you would like help selecting hosting services, please let me know.
If you choose not to enroll in my Website Care Plan, the total responsibility is yours for hosting, performing backups, and keeping your site updated and operational.
Do you offer a warranty?
Yes! The project includes a 30 day warranty and one month of my Website Care Plan. An active Website Care Plan effectively acts as a website warranty.
What if I need to change the scope of our project?
I've created the scope for our project according to our conversations, your goals, and my experience, but it's possible that making progress on the project may reveal unforeseen possibilities. These changes usually require additional costs and time. To allow for these change requests, I normally include a Change Budget in the Proposal of Services. I will get your approval before utilizing any of the Change Budget.
Does my website require any disclosures, privacy policies, or terms of service?
I am not a lawyer and do not give legal advice, but I do partner with a privacy attorney to provide these policies for my clients. In my experience, most sites are legally required to have one or more of these policies. Who all will be involved in building and delivering my project?
You may or may not already know this, but many creative agencies outsource their work. That's not the case for me; I will be performing the work on your project.
When aspects of the project are out of my area of expertise, I may work with a specialist. If this is the case, I will still be your person of contact. I will be transparent about the process and oversee the work to ensure it meets my standards.
